Statement About Our Work

We love what we do! We enjoy working with our clients to create homes
that reflect their taste and complement the community.

Some clients are remodeling their first home, some are creating a new house, some a vacation house, and some are redoing a house in preparation for retirement.

Our projects are large and small, but their significance to us is not in their size or cost, but in the difference they make to the life of a family.   Some of our clients have very limited budgets and are looking for ways to save on every aspect of the project, and some are planning a grand project with a large budget.

We are happy to design a plan that will match the client’s planned expenditure.   Occasionally we will arrange to complete the project in several phases to accommodate the budget.

We enjoy working with houses of any style and period ...

... but we want to be sure that clients have open light and flowing spaces that provide the flexibility that modern families need.  We enjoy the challenge of making the projects fit their sites and look as if they have always belonged there.

We work with a variety of talented contractors who are eager to compete for our projects.  Our bidding process assures our clients of the most competitive pricing, and our project supervision assures that the construction will be completed on time and within the budget.

We are currently designing projects from Cape Cod to the Adirondacks,

however, the majority of our work is in communities surrounding Boston, especially on the South Shore. Previous projects have taken us as far field as California, Florida, and Ohio.

We do not set out to build monuments to our design skills, or to design something in the “Roger Hoit style”… this is YOUR house and it is our job to make it work for you and your family, and to keep it true to it’s own style and allow it to complement the surrounding neighborhood.

ROGER O. HOIT, AIA

Roger has been a registered architect for 45 years.  He has designed over 200 homes and additions in New England as well as in other locations across the country.

Roger’s interest in historic restoration began with work on the restoration of Mystic Seaport.  He has also worked on projects related to the conservation of historic buildings in downtown Boston.  Every day he and Nancy apply this knowledge to historic homes in Southern New England.

For many years Roger was a leader in the field of educational and municipal architecture.  A complete list of these projects can be seen on our "Civic and Commercial" page.

Previously, Roger was Founder and President of Strekalovsky & Hoit, a firm that specialized primarily in the design of schools and civic buildings.  Prior to that he was Vice President of Rich, Lang and Cote in Newton, MA.

Roger is a graduate of Princeton University and received his Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.

NANCY R. HOIT

Roger’s wife Nancy has a degree in architectural history and together they handle all client contact and project design at each stage of design development.  They pride themselves on the close care and supervision that they give each project.

They are proud that theirs is an architectural firm providing complete services through design and construction.  Throughout the process they act as advocates for their clients and unlike a “design-build” firm, they obtain the most reasonable costs available for high quality construction in a competitive bidding process, and supervise construction to maintain this pricing and ensure quality.
